Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture is delighted to announce the appointment of Grant Weaver as Principal of the firm’s Bay Area office. With a notable 19-year career marked by the successful delivery of complex private and public sector projects, Grant brings a reputation for pairing novel designs with technical expertise. His deep commitment to building strong client relationships and fostering collaborative teams will be instrumental in building upon our firm’s rich history while shaping the future of our practice.
Professional Background
Grant’s portfolio of work is a reflection of his commitment to clients in delivering work that focuses on craft, technical expertise, and design excellence. Early in his career he gained an appreciation for materials and craftsmanship, honed through collaborations with Alibi Studio on works showcased at the Venice Architecture Biennale and Extension Gallery for Architecture.
He carried this appreciation of craft forward in his endeavors at BDE Architecture and Mark Cavagnero Associates where he held key leadership positions. During his tenure he led over a dozen projects from concept through construction, navigating complex entitlement and zoning issues while maintaining a steadfast commitment to his client’s vision.
Grant’s portfolio showcases a depth of experience, from leading the design of a 100-acre mixed-use development in Marin County to spearheading the historic renovation of Temple Emanu-El. Additionally, his work on numerous multifamily residential projects, including the Duboce, the Austin, Knox, and Treasure Island, demonstrates his proficiency in creating vibrant and sustainable communities. Grant’s ability to combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of client needs, local contexts, and market trends positions him as a valuable leader on any project.

Personal Insights
Dedicated to fostering strong communities, Grant is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute, Housing Action Coalition, and SPUR. When not immersed in architecture, Grant enjoys spending time with his wife Brenna and their two daughters in Orinda, CA. His dedication to family and community mirrors his commitment to fostering a strong company culture and mentoring future leaders.
