Overview

At the core of Sacramento’s downtown revitalization is a flourishing performing arts scene. As many of the arts organizations have grown, a critical need for rehearsal and support spaces has emerged. We brought together the four major performing arts communities to develop a professional and administrative center for the Sacramento Ballet, Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, Sacramento Opera and California Musical Theatre.

This 4-story midtown complex will provide vital rehearsal and classroom spaces, as well as physical therapy, lockers, changing rooms, costumes/sewing studio and sound/video production areas. Offices will be provided for all four companies, with many consolidation and synergistic opportunities.

The translucent glass-patterned after the dappled shade of Sacramento’s tree canopy-will radiate with the energy of the creative talents housed within. By meeting their distinct needs in a shared facility, each company will receive far better rehearsal and workspace than they might have obtained alone. The City of Sacramento heartily agrees and has provided initial project funding.
